Endodontist

Prof. Dr. Gorduysus graduated from Gazi University, Faculty of Dentistry, Ankara,Turkey, in 1992. Between 1998 and 2000, she continued her studies as a research assistant at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Endodontics, and pursued her PhD at the Institute of Health Sciences.

From 1998 to 2000, she served as a visiting research assistant at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Endodontics in Canada. During this period, she engaged in academic studies while participating in preclinical education. After returning to Hacettepe University in Turkey, she completed her thesis dissertation in 2000 and was awarded the title of PhD “Doctor of Science”. She attained the position of Associate Professor in 2004 and became a Professor in 2012 at Hacettepe University.

From 2014 to 2017, she held a Professorship at Ras Al Khaimah Medical Health and Sciences University in the United Arab Emirates, where she taught practical and theoretical education. In 2018, she retired from Hacettepe University, where she had worked for 25 years, and subsequently continued her academic career as a professor at Ras Al Khaimah Medical Health Sciences University, RAK College of Dentistry, between 2018 and 2021. Additionally, she provided endodontic treatment to VIP patients. In 2018, Dr. Gorduysus spent three months as a visiting professor at Okayama University, Faculty of Dentistry, in Japan, where she completed collaborative research.

Throughout her academic life, she has taught undergraduate, graduate, master’s and PhD courses at both national and international levels. She has provided advisor and mentorship for doctoral and master’s theses. She still continues her work on an international platform.

Dr. Gorduysus has published over seventy articles, both internationally and nationally. Her research has been cited in distinguished research articles and reference books. She has participated as a speaker and attendee in various national and international conferences. Additionally, she has organized workshops internationally. Her special interests include retreatment, persistent infections, traumatic dental injuries, regenerative endodontic therapy, perforation, and resorption management in clinical endodontics. Prof. Melahat Gorduysus keeps up to date with all continuous improvement in the field of dentistry by participating in regular continuing education programs around the world.

She is a member of the Turkish Endodontic Society and European Society of Endodontology. She is fluent in English and is married with one daughter.
